Burrin Celtic completed a 100% winning league season with a home victory over Bagenalstown. Celtic played with the aid of a strong wind throughout the first half. However, despite enjoying good possession, they reached the interval with only the narrowest of leads following Eamon Lalor’s finish from Cian Byrne’s assist.
Celtic’s second half performance was much improved with several players showing the determination that has helped to make them champions this season. Oscar Brennan scored Celtic’s second when he controlled Eamon Lalor’s cross from the left wing and Jamie Fitzgerald scored his team’s third when he chased a through ball and made no mistake with his strike. Bagenalstown continued to press for a consolation goal, but they couldn’t break down Celtic’s solid defence. In the end Celtic were relieved not to fall at this final hurdle against a very capable Bagenalstown side.
Best for Burrin Celtic were Cian Brennan, Cian Byrne and Ciaran Lewis.
