Burrin Celtic finished the season in style by winning the U12 Cup to complete a League and Cup double this season. In miserably wet conditions Celtic were fired up from the off and got down to business early when Jamie Fitzgerald broke through the Hacketstown defence to score the opener in the second minute. Minutes later Celtic were two up as once again Jamie Fitzgerald showed great determination to chase a through ball and nudge it over the on-coming keeper.
In these early stages Celtic were playing well in all areas, with Ben Ward making a fine strike from the edge of the box and Adam Nolan also finishing well to put their team four up. Hacketstown were given some hope when they got a goal back and then had their best spell of the game as they began to ask questions of Celtic's defence. However, a brace from Celtic's Oscar Brennan in the last five minutes of the half ended the game as a contest.
In the second half Celtic went on to score two more, the first by Cian Byrne and the second by Eamon Lalor from the penalty spot, for their team to run out comfortable winners.
Best for Burrin Celtic were Jamie Fitzgerald, Cian Byrne, Jack O'Neill and man of the match, Eamon Lalor.
